The Details
Project Details
The Coolidge Corner Theatre, an iconic landmark in Brookline, Massachusetts, is a cherished institution known for its dedication to independent, foreign, and classic films. Established in 1933, this historic theater has long been a cultural hub in the Boston area. In early 2024, the theater completed a 14,000 expansion to meet growing demand and enhance its offerings.
Architecturally, the project added a new wing to the existing structure, which now includes two additional screening rooms. These new spaces are designed to accommodate larger audiences and offer state-of-the-art projection and sound systems, ensuring that the theater remains at the forefront of cinematic technology. The expansion also includes a renovated lobby and improved amenities, making the theater more accessible and comfortable for its patrons.
The Coolidge Corner Theatre’s expansion reflects a broader trend of investing in cultural institutions that serve as vital community hubs. By modernizing its facilities and expanding its offerings, the theater ensures its role as a cornerstone of the local cultural scene. This enhancement not only preserves the charm of a beloved historic venue but also adapts it to contemporary needs, allowing it to continue its mission of celebrating and showcasing the art of cinema.
