Humble Beginnings
Optimum Building Systems, LLC (OBS) was founded in 1990 by brothers Rene and Sylvain Theroux in the wake of their father’s construction business closure. Driven by a desire to continue their family’s legacy in the building trade, the Theroux brothers launched OBS with a vision to innovate and bring new efficiencies to construction projects.
Today, Optimum Building System is New England’s preferred contractor for large scale drywall and metal framing, exterior envelope and weatherization, and acoustical ceiling tile (ACT) installation services. Our past projects include commercial, recreational, medical, retirement, and assisted living facilities, university housing, shopping malls, theater complexes, and more. Using a team approach, we work closely with our clients to ensure complete satisfaction.
Headquartered in Litchfield, New Hampshire, the company has offices and facilities throughout New Hampshire, Maine, Vermont, and Massachusetts. Our unique subcontractor relationships enable rapid deployment of scalable labor as needed.
Landry & Sons acquisition
In May 2024, OBS acquired Landry & Sons Acoustics, Inc. Founded in 1986 by Gerry Landry, Landry & Sons Acoustics quickly established a reputation for quality and reliability. Initially operated from Gerry’s home with his sons, the company expanded as demand grew, leading to the acquisition of its first warehouse in 1994. Following a smooth transition of leadership to Gerry’s sons and son-in-law in 2001, Landry & Sons has continued to thrive. Today, with nearly 40 years of experience, the company is Maine’s premier acoustical ceiling contractor.

Company Timeline
1990
Optimum Building Systems is founded by Rene and Sylvain Theroux.
1999
OBS established the Exterior Insulation and Finish Systems (EIFS) division.
2010
The company added cladding and acoustical tile to its product offerings.
2014
OBS established its reputation as the ‘go-to’ contractor for large scale projects in northern New England.
2016 - 2019
OBS self-manufactured its first Computer Numerical Control (CNC machine). In 2019 the exterior envelope division was founded.
2022
OBS added a second CNC machine and achieved record growth.
